Abstract: In this paper we present a method for low computational complexity single image based obstacle detection and avoidance, with applicability on low power devices and sensors. The method is built on a novel application of single image relative focus map estimation, using localized blind deconvolution, for classifying image regions. For evaluation we use the MSRA datasets and show the method's practical usability by implementation on smartphones.
